The SSCO Program at The Outwood Grange College Sports Partnership

PLT Planning Day

At our final meeting of the year we were able to hand out the PLT 'over and above' awards.  To see the winners please go the the respective home pages (except I can't seem to download my photos at the moment).

The day was based around the data collection.  We were also visited by the Community Sports Coach for Basketball who is launching a new Basketball initative for next year.

After lunch all the PLTs were invited to have a session on Tai Chi, led by Betty Sunderland, Yoga, Kangoo Boots and Speed Stacking.

Healthy Schools had also provided erasers, pencils and sports leader armbands for each school based on Fitbods!

It was a great day and so much networking went all.

Intense Hockey Summer Camps

Intense Hockey Summer CampsIntense Hockey was born from the need to provide students in their long holiday breaks the opportunity to actually achieve and develop within the sport of hockey. The camps have been deliberately designed not to offer a ‘multi-activity’ facility, but to concentrate on the differing levels that the sport of hockey can deliver..From the mini camps that achieve an awareness of the sport and its requirements through fun purposeful exercises and related games to the awesome level 3 camp which stretches every student and coaches with the content that is delivered. Intense Hockey gives just reward to all participating students. The camps have now been running for several years and continue to grow each year in the numbers attending and in the range of camps made available throughout the North of England. Please take the opportunity to have a look at the venues for next year. Bookings are always made early for our camps so we would advise that to avoid disappointment you try and book as early as possible.

Hockey is a fantastic sport and at Intense Hockey are blessed with some of the finest young coaches in the Country that can bring their experiences from club/county and International levels to all our camps.

Murrayfield Action!

Murrayfield Action!Three members of the SSCO team had the good fortune to make it to Murrayfield last weekend.  Mrs Foster, Mr Biltcliffe and Miss Hopkinson play touch rugby through the summer season as part of the Wakefield Wildcats work in the community.  Their team had chance to represent the Wildcats in a Tag tournament before the mian Super league matches started.  Each Super-league team was represented in the tag event and a celebrity player from the past starred in each team.  Although we did not go through to the finals, it was a great competition and we then went into the stadium to watch the games.  At half time in the Wakefield V Bradford match, all the tag teams were invited down onto the pitch side to do a lap of honour - what a great experience!  There were 34,000 people cheering us on!......
