We Missed The Rain!

We Missed The Rain!

It looked doubtful all day and the venue had to be changed but the race festival for year 4 still went ahead.  The field at Beckets survived last nights rain but the heavy downfall earlier today made it too wet and slippery.  However, the track at St Ignatius somehow stayed quite dry and, at 2pm we decided to switch venue.  The showers continued to come and go but, at 4pm, it was fine enough to proceed.  Unfortunately, St Austins were unable to make it but 32 children from St Ignatius and English Martyrs lined the field.  The children did the same races as KS1 last week but with longer distances; flat race, sack race, potato and egg and spoon with a team relay to finish off.  The pupils were very keen and there were a few false starts due to their eagerness off the blocks!  Three points were awarded for a win, two for second and one point for third place.  The atmosphere as always was lovely and every individual gave their best.  Several managed to run out of the bright coloured sacks half way down the course and there were many dropped eggs!  Six young leaders from year 6 helped run the event and did very well.  In the end, English Martyrs scored 95 points but, once again, St Ignatius were triumphant on 126 points.
